More great news this week from the International Photographic Competition which took place in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael Anthony, owner of Studio 23 Photography was awarded Diamond Photographer of the Year by the Professional Photographers of America. Diamond status is achieved in the IPC by being awarded 4 merits, and then having all 4 images be accepted to PPA’s annual loan collection. Last year, of the thousands of photographers that entered the competition, only 23 were awarded the Diamond in the photographic open. PPA’s IPC is the cream of the crop when it comes to photographic competitions. It’s one of the largest, and most respected in the world.
One of our images, “Reign” scored an exemplary 100, the highest score that can be achieved in competition……This is an accomplishment that our team gets to enjoy that is not ever realized by many……..Reign took a look of planning, and a lot of luck to execute on the day of the shoot in Iceland, it was our highest scoring print this year at WPPI, earning a silver distinction, Gold at One Eyeland, and placed at Shutterfest as well. Hard work and dedication really does pay off, and I feel like working towards these goals are a great team building exercise for my staff, and helps keep my skill set sharp, which will benefit our clients more than any other training I could possibly do.
Later this year these images will be featured in Professional Photographer Magazine, along with being on display at Imaging USA

Los Angeles Photographer Named Bronze Medalist at International Photographic Competition
Michael Anthony of Michael Anthony Photography is honored by peers and jurors for high-quality photography.
Valencia, California – Michael Anthony of Michael Anthony Photography in Los Angeles was named a Diamond Medalist during Professional Photographers of America’s 2018 International Photographic Competition. Anthony’s work will be on display at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 20-22, 2019. This International Photographic Exhibit is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual convention and expo for professional photographers.
A panel of 32 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from nearly 5,073 total submitted entries at Gwinnett Technical College in Georgia. Judged against a standard of excellence, 2,622 images were selected for the General Collection and 513 (roughly 10 percent) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated “Loan Collection” book and over 365 selected General Collection images will be published in the “Showcase” book by Marathon Press.
The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Loan Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions and other photography events. Anthony was named a Diamond Medalist, meaning that all four of his merited images entered the PPA Loan Collection. In 2018, he was one of only 18 Diamond Photographers of the Year.
