Downtown Los Angeles Engagement-Session

Enjoy this Downtown Los Angeles Engagement Session featuring Alex and Kyrene. The weather was beautiful for their shoot and we absolutely loved all of the photos at The Walt Disney Concert Hall, one of our favorite places LA Engagement Session Locations.

How did you both meet?

We met at the gym in 2011 and shared mutual friends. We got to know each other as our friends would usually talk to each other for a while after our workouts. In 2012, our friends decided that we should all go out for St. Patrick’s Day. We spent most of that night out together and one week later Alex asked me out on our first date. Since then we have been together for just over 5 years.

How did Alex Propose?

Alex surprised me on a Saturday morning in January with a day-trip to Orange County. He told me to get ready because we were going to meet an investor for an early dinner to make a “big decision” and he would need my opinion. Since we would be in the area, he told me that it would be nice to spend the day there before this investor met us for dinner. When we got to the Montage in Laguna Beach Alex suggested that we should start off by having some drinks at the hotel bar. I noticed he was a bit tense as he drank a few beers quickly (haha!). Alex suggested that we walk to the beach from the hotel given that there was a nice walkway connected to it. As we were walking, I noticed a crowd of random people waiting just outside of a secluded peak area overlooking the ocean. Alex started leading me to that peak and I noticed rose petals along the walkway. At the end of that peak, there was a heart made with the rose petals and Alex got on his knee and proposed. It was a beautiful moment and we spent the rest of the day celebrating with a dinner at the same hotel, luckily the investor story was not real.

What is your favorite memory together aside from the proposal?

Hard question because there have been many!! One of our favorite moments was when we took our first trip together. I had to fly to Washington D.C. in May 2013 to present a research study at a conference so I invited Alex to go with me. We decided to go and stay a few days longer to travel around the city and celebrate Alex’s birthday there together at the end of that week. We got to tour the city and surrounding cities, ate some delicious seafood, watched some local sports teams, and even Uber’d it to Baltimore to gamble at a casino that was located in a mall parking lot. Overall, it was quite the adventure given that my parents did not (still don’t) have a clue that Alex joined me on this trip!
