Today I decided that I would check out a new shooting location nestled in the foothills of the Santa Clarita Valley. This place was a late 1800’s pioneer boom town. It was eventually declared a historical landmark and then it became part of Woodland Park at the west end of Pico Canyon. I have the Anderson Family to thank for this discovery, and what a gem it was!
I grabbed my always-willing model Jen, and we made our way up there. It is only 5 minutes from Magic Mountain. We discovered that there were many great shooting opportunities, due to the long grassy plains, and historical rustic buildings. Aside from coming across a swarm of bees (thankfully the non-killer kind), we found that the area was not just good for photography, but for hiking and general visitation. Unfortunately the old Mentryville town was closed off today, but we will get some good shots there eventually. If you are interested in a photo shoot here, e-mail me at Michael@AnthonyRyanPhoto.com, or just call 818-730-8856 and we will set something up! Just keep in mind that this location is surrounded by nature, so be prepared for the elements that come in that type of environment.
