Good photography is a long process. The work photographers spend does not end when the client and photographer say goodbye. When I do a two hour shoot, I usually spend 5-6 hours editing pictures, another hour setting up the galleries, and another hour or so blogging about the event. I will be the first to admit that I could be a poster child for ADD, and therefore I need to stay entertained or my attention wanders. Recently while wandering the web I stumbled across an article that intrigued me. See I am a music lover, and unfortunately I don’t want to purchase an entire album for an artist who comes up with a song that I like, otherwise my music collection would take up 4 external harddrives. I love Pandora which chooses music for you based on a particular artist or track that you like. I also love Netflix, which allows you to choose movies that you want to watch and stream them to your computer or TV. Netflix will also make recommendations for you based on movies you have watched.
This service has been all over Europe since 2008. It allows you to stream music from the internet based on what you want to listen to. I don’t mean that you can listen to a song you want, or singles by a particular artist. I mean that you can listen to the entire album, along with albums covering the entire artist’s discography.
They don’t skimp on content either, a search for “Journey” revealed over 30 albums, compilations, and various knockoffs. The best thing about this service is that it is free. I said free, yes I meant free. Free as in the guy on the mattress store commercial. They offer a premium service for $4.99 a month with no ads, and an unlimited service for $9.99 a month that includes the ability to stream music to your iPhone or Android device.
No I am not paid by Spotify, I just love the service they offer. As far as the ads go, I listened to one maybe every 15 minutes. I can deal with that.
Spotify also lets you integrate you friends with Twitter, Facebook, and other social media support. Meaning you can see what they are listening to and share recommendations. Yes friends, the world is getting smaller.
Some of you are probably asking, what does this have to do with photography? The answer is nothing, but I thought it was great, and I wanted to share it with you.
To sign up for Spotify, go to www.Spotify.com and enter your e-mail for an invite, they sent me one in three days, hopefully you can join as quick as well!
In other news, look out for Katie and Justin’s maternity session blog to be up in a day or so! The images turned out great and we cannot wait to share them with you. It is not too late to vote for the Summer Cutest Couple Contest on our Facebook page. I cannot believe how amazing the participation has been! You are all amazing and I have a surprise for all the contestants when the contest is over.
