As Iceland Wedding Photographers in the USA, there are moments that define our careers and have a lasting impact on our businesses. One such extraordinary moment occurred with the creation of an image titled "Reign." This captivating image has garnered accolades and recognition far beyond our expectations, but the journey to capture it was nothing short of an adventure.
Let us share the story behind this incredible image. Our journey took us to Iceland, a land known for its breathtaking landscapes and unpredictable weather. For over a week, we scouted and photographed various locations, each about a 3-hour drive from our Airbnb. We scheduled a last-minute portfolio shoot with our bride, Melkorka, just before leaving the country.
As the day of the shoot approached, the weather forecast showed rain on and off along our entire route. Despite this, we decided to take a chance and embarked on a road trip to Iceland's iconic black sand beach. Upon arrival, we were initially met with resistance from a park ranger, who warned visitors not to stand on the black rocks. However, after explaining our vision, the ranger allowed our bride Melkorka to pose atop the rocks.
At the beginning of the shoot, the wind and light were not cooperating with our creative vision. Instead of being deterred, we embraced the elements and let the wind guide us in crafting the perfect image. With the press of the shutter, we knew we had captured a shot that would become a defining moment in our careers as Iceland Wedding Photographers in the USA.
In 2019, this image was selected by the Professional Photographers of America to compete in the World Photographic Olympics, after earning admission to the Loan Collection in the International Photographic Competition. In January, we were elated to learn that "Reign" had won the Best of Nations award from 32 different countries in the World Photographic Organization. By April, a panel of 32 judges had awarded our image the gold medal, naming it the best wedding image in the world.
As humbled as we were to receive such an honor, our greatest satisfaction came from knowing that we had created a beautiful and timeless image for our stunning bride.
